エズラ・パウンドの連作詩「モーバリー(Hugh Selwyn Mauberley)」から第八の詩「ブレンボーム」BRENNBAUM(壺齋散人訳)
空のように澄んだ瞳
まん丸な子どもの顔
喧嘩して逮捕される不器用さ
これらのどれにも優雅さが欠けている
ホレブの重い記憶 シナイとの四十年
ブレンボームの顔に水平に日が沈むとき
その記憶が蘇る
完全無欠なものの記憶
この詩のテーマはよくわからない。ホレブはシナイ山の別名。ユダヤ人の恋人と関係があるのだろうか。

THE sky-like limpid eyes,
The circular infant's face,
The stiffness from spats to collar
Never relaxing into grace;
The heavy memories of Horeb, Sinai and the forty years,
Showed only when the daylight fell
Level across the face
Of Brennbaum "The Impeccable".
