エズラ・パウンドの詩「メダリオン(MEDALLION)」(壺齋散人訳)
磁器に描かれたルイーニ
グランドピアノが
澄んだソプラノで
罰当たりな声を上げる
金色のフロックコートの上には
光沢ある黒髪が見える
ライナッハの本の見開きにある
アナディオメネのようだ
蜂蜜のように赤い
組紐細工の籠
組紐はミノス王の宮殿で
金属か琥珀で編まれたようだ
釉薬を透けて見える瓜実顔が
やわらかいラインを描く
半ワットのかすかな電灯が
瞳をトパーズ色に彩った
この詩は磁器製のメダリオンに施された模様を描いたものだ。描かれていたのは、ルネサンスの画家ルイーニの絵なのだろう。
MEDALLION
LUINI in porcelain!
The grand piano
Utters a profane
Protest with her clear soprano.
The sleek head emerges
From the gold-yellow frock
As Anadyomene in the opening
Pages of Reinach.
Honey-red, closing the face-oval
A basket-work of braids which seem as if they were
Spun in King Minos' hall
From metal, or intractable amber;
The face-oval beneath the glaze,
Bright in its suave bounding-line, as
Beneath half-watt rays
The eyes turn topaz.
